With a heatwave hitting Paris, we had to stay hydrated! For this year’s Back To In Streets for Go Skateboarding Day in Paris, we partnered with Halfpipe Records, who has been hosting one crazy Block Party for La Fête de la Musique for a second consecutive year. From etnies, we had Werka Choromanska; from éS, we had Wade DesArmo, from Emerica, we had Matisse Banc, who MC’d the best trick. Before heading to the event location, we visited Nozbon Skate Shop on Saturday, Vega Skate Shop on Sunday, and then met the Le 39 crew at their skate shop to host a couple of best trick contests before our event. Thank you to everyone who showed up and skated with us in that insanely hot temperature, and to the Halfpipe Records collective for letting us tag along with their event for Go Skateboarding Day.
Last Saturday a mix of etnies, éS, and Emerica riders made it to the mile high city. On Saturday night we gathered at The Annex location of 303, and it the walls inside where with artwork from Kevin Spanky Long and Fos, along with photos from Kyle Seidler. The place was packed and we surprised the crowd with the Emerica promo video, which will be out in mid July for everyone else to see.
On Sunday morning we gathered on Colfax in front of 303, and right before noon a crowd of over 700 skateboarders skated down to the state capitol. We spent close to 2 hours skating the custom obstacles that the 303 crew had built. Leo and Spanky helped give out some cash for tricks, before we skated to Denver skatepark. Some of us skated, some of us hang and chatted with the locals, and we all watch the nonstop hijinx that was pure entertainment.
Just before 4pm we headed to the last spot of the day for the infamous 4 at 4 session. Julian Lewis, Nels Rosen and Lucas Aquino, along with a lot of the locals, riffled off a ton of tricks on the custom etnies hubba and the stair set. Once that session was done and all the money was given out, a small crew followed Nels to the Emage 20 Stair / Rail.
After a few roll ups Nels stuck a frontside 50-50. First try. A perfect way to end a great day in the streets of Denver.
The original plan was to celebrate Go Skate Day Montreal at the iconic Peace Park, but Mother Nature had other plans, bringing an intense rainstorm that forced a last-minute change. Fortunately, Montreal is home to SPIN Skatepark, arguably the premier indoor skatepark in Canada, which stepped up as the perfect backup venue.
Despite the weather, the turnout was incredible. The indoor setting created a more intimate atmosphere, giving local kids a rare opportunity to hang out and skate alongside some of the industry's top pros. The crew delivered all day, with Emerica's Bailey Seager putting on a clinic by rattling off what felt like 20 tricks in 20 minutes on the park's big rail. Meanwhile, Andy Anderson was inspiring the next generation, encouraging skaters to think outside the box and approach obstacles with creativity.
To cap off the day, we linked up with several local skate shops before heading to Préfontaine, bringing an unforgettable Go Skate Day celebration to a close. The future of Montreal's skate scene is bright.
We touched down in Stuttgart with Nick Garcia and Stevie Culhane to link up with the Arrow & Beast crew and bring some Back in the Streets hype to the city, landing right in the middle of a brutal European heat wave.
The sun was so heavy the wax was melting before it could take hold, but it didn't slow anyone down - although the handrail we installed at the stair spot fell into shade just as we got to it, which was definitely welcomed.
We hit three spots across the day, pulling more and more crowd braving the sun along the way before finishing up the final fourth spot - the Arrow & Beast Go Skateboarding Day session they’ve been running for years in the city centre.
